Patricia Ann Harrington Age 79, died peacefully on October 6th, 2013, after a short illness. Born September 15th, 1934 in Santa Ana, California, Patricia moved to Tacoma as a child and spent her youth riding and competitively jumping horses. She worked tirelessly at Stanley Elementary School in Tacoma, bringing innovative education programs to the hilltop. She retired as an administrator at Central School. In her retirement Patricia was a mystery writer, publishing two novels, and a compilation of short stories. She was also a grant writer working with the Tacoma Urban League, and advocate for the Cambodian Christian community. Patricia was active in the Episcopal Church and was the recipient of the Bishops Cross. She was also the matriarch to generations of lost and abandoned animals. Patricia is survived by her sister Virginia Harwood, and children Cheryl Woodard (James Haney), Michael Woodard (Katherine Woodard), William Woodard, and Kathleen Woodard (Doug Stewart). Her passion and unconditional love was devoted to her grandchildren, Meghan Woodard, Katelyn Woodard, Molly Woodard, and Bridget Haney. Miss you Pat! I know its been 6 1/2 years!
You will never know how our conversations meant so much!
We talked travel, writing, politics, crime and your love of God.
Just thinking of you after the recent passing of my Mother.

My thoughts are with the family. I just "went looking" for Pat on Facebook since I hadn't heard from her for a while and was very dismayed to see that she had left us.

I knew Pat for the past 20 years...I'm a fellow grantwriter and even hired Pat for contract work at my last job.

You are greatly missed.

Sending loving prayers to all of Pat's family. Pat was of sturdy stock (Beloit, KS)--and her contributions very significant. You must be proud of all her accomplishments! She was kind to my daughter, Paige, and her family in W. Seattle. We are proud to own Pat's books. . .

Dear Woodard Family: Your mom was an inspiration to everyone she met. I met her through work at THA and through a mutual friend who is with you mom in heaven. They are in a peaceful place probably working on a grant somewhere or sitting on the beach of Antiqua. She was a great lady and will be dearly missed. You were lucky to call her mom. Yvonne Ginoulis

Pat was an inspiration to me. Her faith and her willingness to demonstrate it always gave me lots to think about and emulate. Her love for her dogs and her neighbors was an expression of her love for all God's creation. We really did not have enough time with her.
