RICHARD WISENBURG Obituary

Richard "Dick" Wisenburg 1941 - 2013 Humor, mentor, kindness, BIG heart, sparkly, engaging, great friend, amazing father and grandfather, cherished husband, all describe our beloved "Dick". With great sadness in our hearts Dick passed from our warm arms to a more peaceful place on June 15th 2013 at the age of 72. Dick joined his parents Jack and Edith Wisenburg and many cherished friends as he passed so gracefully after a short and shocking three-week diagnosis of biliary cancer. He was surrounded with love and the continuous physical touch of his adoring family. Dick enjoyed his childhood as a "rebel rouser" in Seattle with his brother Bob, where he was born and raised. He attended Lincoln High, graduating in 1959. After graduation, he set off to share his personality and talents with the world. He proudly served his country aboard the submarine USS Raton and shared his memories of that time with everyone he could. He returned from the sea with kisses and a ring for his high school sweetheart, Donna Storm. He passed just days before their 50th wedding anniversary. Dick was devoted and took great pride in his 42-year career with WAMU. He truly was the "Friend of the Family" where he was a mentor and friend to those he worked with and within the community. His friendships run deep. Dick enjoyed retirement as an active member and "fun starter" at the Fox Island Yacht Club, enjoying time on his boat with Donna and friends. He used his boating skills to take them north for 47 years to the glorious waters he so loved. He fell in love with Italy and the beaches of Normandy in France. He also enjoyed participating with the T-Bird Club, traveling, breakfast with the boys, cribbage nights, Hawaii, coffee and his morning paper. Dick is survived by his wife, Donna Wisenburg (Storm), daughter Tracy (Matt) Martin and grandsons Ross and Max, son Scott (Suzanne) Wisenburg, brother Robert (Sharon) Wisenburg and their two children, Tyler and Stephanie, and countless cherished friends who will never forget this fun loving "Popeye". Words on a page can never describe this incredible man. A "celebration" of Dick's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church in Gig Harbor, Washington, with a reception to follow. Please join us. Memorial contributions are welcome and should be made to Hospice at Tacoma General. Please sign Richard's online guestbook at www.havenrest.com.

Please accept my condolences. Dick was a great guy and embodied the WaMu spirit. When California banks began acquiring banks is Washington State, I believe it was Dick who proposed that the Rodeo Grandma's round up the stage coach at the Washington state border. I have fond memories of poker games and pizza. Best wishes to the family.
