ROBERT DAVID NICHOLS Robert David Nichols passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 with his wife Emily,and stepson, Benjamin by his side. Robert was born and raised in Mobile Alabama on December 22, 1935 to Alice (ne Norden) Nichols and Robert Lexington Nichols. Attended USM-Wright Military Preparatory School, graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine and was board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He completed a second residency in Psychiatry at Oregon State University securing his boards in Psychiatry. At Tulane he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and later the medical fraternity of Nu Sigma Nu. Bob served in the United States Navy during Vietnam as a flight physician. Later, he practiced in Alabama, Floria,Wyoming, and Indiana, and finally settled in Richland, in 1984, where he established a successful practice of Psychiatry. Bob was a Paul Harris Fellow in the Richland Rotary, a sustaining member of All Saints' Episcopal Church were he assisted as a Stephen Minister. Bob was an expert marksman with a passion for hunting grouse, duck, and pheasant from which many a delicious meal resulted. Bob loved to fish in the Columbia for walleye and bass with various friends, especially Myron Powell. He and Emily delighted in multiple vacations to Ketchikan, AK, where they enjoyed the challenge of catching salmon. Cruises to Alaska, Europe and visiting friends in foreign countries added to their mutual interests together. Time spent with children and grandchildren were especially important and appreciated in their life together. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Leah Nichols. Bob is survived by his wife of twenty-two years, Emily; daughter Catherine (Alan) Klein -Bloomfield Hills, MI; granddaughters Lydia and Samantha Klein: daughter Nancy (Leo) -Versailles, Kentucky; grandson Drew Nichols; and Linda Whitington -Memphis, TN; and his wife's children, sons Benjamin Turcotte; Paul (Elizabeth) Turcotte of Seattle grandson Andrew; Chris (Stacy) Turcotte of Brookfield, Il grandchildren Austin and Hannah; and daughter, Camille (Nathan) Danielson grandchildren - Bryce and Margaret Johnson - Madison, WI. We are thankful for the many caring medical professionals who helped prolong Bob's life and gave him comfort including doctors: Atwood, Ewer, Curry, Hamner, Cunanan,; staff at Kadlec; all the dedicated staff at Richland Rehab; and all the staff from Home Health, especially Joseph, Sheri, Rongi and Gary. Thank you to All Saints', their volunteers, to all Dear Friends, and especially the Family, for giving us comfort and love during this difficult time. A celebration of life will be held at: All Saints' Episcopal Church on Saturday, June 9th at 11 AM followed by a reception (All Saints' 1322 Kimball, Richland).
