John Lateer Obituary
Honesdale - John E. Lateer III, age 80, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021, after a brief illness. John is survived by his beloved wife, Kelli (McElroy) Lateer, his son, John E. Lateer, IV, (wife Terri and daughter Alexa), and his step-daughter Kacie Johannes, sister Brenda Lateer Preston, niece Heather Preston DeVries (husband Richard and children Dakota, Amber, and Jessica), and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
John was born on December 29, 1940, in Sussex, NJ. He his preceded in death by his parents John E. Lateer Jr. and Louiza Sharpe Lateer. He graduated from Sussex High School in 1959 and went on to proudly serve in the United States Marine Corps. John went on to become a telephone technician until his retirement. After his retirement, John owned and operated his own landscaping business.
Everyone who crossed John's path enjoyed his wonderful smile and love for his family. His kind heart and generous nature was known to all who knew him. John always said that he was blessed in this life to have so many wonderful friends around him and he felt he received everything he ever wanted in this world.
There will be a celebration of life, including a graveside service on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Honesdale, PA.

Uncle Johnny was a man like no other. His kind heart, contagious smile, love of life and family, and his infectious laughter will never be forgotten. He was/is my favorite Uncle and second father. I will never forget the memories we made and will hold tight to them for the rest of my life. I am so blessed that he gave me the honor of walking me down the aisle. Such an incredibly loving soul that has impacted my life forever. Uncle Johnny, you are loved and missed more than words can ever capture. Debbie
