Evangeline “Nubby/Eva” Brenenstuhl COHOES - Evangeline “Nubby/Eva” Brenenstuhl, 88 passed away peacefully from this life on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Van Rensselaer Manor, Troy, NY. Evangeline was the eldest child born to the late John B. and Theresa (Sheldon) Weller in Hoosick Falls, NY on October 4, 1928. Evangeline attended elementary schools and graduated from Walter A. Wood High School class of 1947, in Hoosick Falls, NY. She recently celebrated her 70th High School Reunion. She was employed at what was then known as the “Polygraphic” in North Bennington, VT, and remained employed there until July 1952. She then married Frederick C. Brenenstuhl, Jr., in the First Baptist Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls and started her life as a Navy wife until Fred retired from the US Navy in 1965. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred, a lifetime member of American Legion Post 40 in Hoosick Falls, who passed away in November of 2008. Evangeline was a lifetime member of Hoosick Falls Legion Unit 40 Auxiliary and held positions as 2nd Vice President, Treasurer and Chaplin. Evangeline is survived by two daughters, YN1 Sandra Smallwood, USN, Ret. of Forest Hill, MD and Susan B. Brown of Lansingburgh, NY, three grandchildren Theresa (Jeff) Jenkins, Jerry Smallwood, Jr., and Bridget Brown, eight great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and their respective families. She was predeceased by two sisters, Shirley Burdick Mahar and Mary Weller Englehart. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the Van Rensselaer Manor Wing 3A staff, kitchen and activities for their loving care and support of Eva. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street, Hoosick Falls, NY on Sunday, July 2, 2017 from 1:00 – 4:00pm. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church, 80 Main Street, Hoosick Falls, NY on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 9:00 am. Burial will follow the service at Hoosick Rural Cemetery, Hoosick, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family ask contributions be made to either the First Baptist Church, Hoosick Area Food Pantry or V.F.W. Post 5838, through the funeral home.
