Dear Kathy, Barbara, Karl, Paula, Gary, John, Peter, Mark and David,
Our family lived in the next camp past "This'l Do"....the Kivlens,(the Cannings and the Mumfords our cousins).
I recently had a memory of your Mom that probably saved my life as a child.
My sister Maureen was 11, my brother Patrick was 9 and I was 7. I would try to keep up with them swimming out to the raft at the beach. Your Mom informed my Mom about it. I had to wait until I was a stronger swimmer to try that again.
My brothers and sisters and I thought you were so lucky when your parents decided to live at the Lake year round.
I remember your Mom's shoes of all things...(memories)....
The last time I saw your Mom was at the Community Center in 1997 when my Mom died.
I was touched by her kind sympathy and how she asked about my Aunt Sally.
That's such a nice photo of her.
Sincere sympathy,
from,
Ellen Kivlen Foster

Dear Kathy,

You have my greatest sympathy on the loss of your mother Helen. She was an amazing woman and the apple did not fall far from the tree. Your mother apparently did it all and was a model for many other women. Her life, her family, her causes are symbols of the woman she was. Was a great loss.

Love,
Sybil

Mrs. Grimm capably filled many roles in life. Among them was her role as a Babcock Lake pioneer who helped give us the model for the community many current lake residents strive to maintain and improve upon annually. Above all, "Ma G" was the matriarch of one of the greatest families I know. May she rest in peace.

To the entire Grimm family- there are certain things as a kid that you just know to be right and true - and one of those - was that your mom was one of the good ones. My thoughts and prayers to each and every one of you now and throughout this difficult time - for it is never easy to lose your mom.

Kathy and family,
As a newly-admitted attorney on my first day of work at the Department of State, Division of Community Affairs, Bureau of Legal Services, your Mom pulled a letter I had handwritten (on, of course, yellow legal pad paper) out of the "workbox" to type it. When she saw it, she exclaimed - quite loudly - "Girls, look at the handwriting of the new guy!!" (Legible handwriting is one of my most noteworthy legal skills.) What a wonderful "family" working environment we had and what a wonderful office matriarch your Mom was!! Who could have predicted that years later her daughter's career path and mine would intersect in the state and local tax world?
I was saddened to learn of your Mom's passing and disappointed that I'll be unable to express my condolences in person. She was a very memorable character in my early days in state government; upbeat ("Grimm by name, not by nature!"),great fun but, also an extremely competent co-worker, an obviously proud Mom (when we worked together 34 years ago) and a warm, wonderful human being.
I am very sorry for your loss. Please know you and your family are in our prayers.

May 22, 2011

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. What a wonderful and full life she lived!
