He was my great-great-uncle and he was amazing. I miss you Uncle John, and I thought you might want to know I'm doing a presentation on you for veterans day in my history class!

From years of comedy improv. class to decades in "The Fellowship," John was a constant friend to me. Oh, what a blessed man he truly was. A war veteran, a solid citizen, a good fellow of faith, hope, charity and love. Knowing John has made a positive influence on my life and I will remember him with fondness and gratitude.

Sweet Prince, may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

Hi John

It is so hard to accept the fact that you are gone. The apartment is so different, so quiet now. Yes, you were loud at times. I know the PEA misses you very much... she now lays on the very spot where your head was. I miss you too... we all do... we are all in denial. In paradisum deducant te Angeli... May the angels lead you into paradise...

John I thank you for all you shared with me. You always said it as you saw it, never worried about how others thought of it. You let me know it was alright be just to be even when I thought I lost my mind! You just said you can't loose what you don't have. Your wit was sharp. Travel in peace Marine, miss you my friend.

John was always willing to help a new guy. I was a new guy seventeen years ago. He had a gruff exterior, but always had a kind word. He had a way of seeing into the deep nature of what it means to be human, and spelling it out in plain language. He has said things that I have relied on every day. I find myself quoting John all the time to help my guys, and myself. He was a rare person of high quality, and I will miss him terribly.

John was always so warm and kind to me -and to every frightened new face in the room. Generous, compassionate... we are the richer for having had him and the poorer for having list him..

Margaret:

Although I never met your beloved John, I know for sure he was the love of your life. Your comments and pictures show the once in a lifetime love the two of you shared. Many years back we spent 9 years of grade school together and though we did not see each other much over the years those who touch our lives help shape the people we are today. You definitely have always been a very special person to me.

When I realized you had lost your husband I was deeply saddened. Although our only connection for the past few years has been Facebook I feel it was very easy to catch up with how our lives have changed throughout the years.

You are an extraordinary woman and I am so glad the two of you shared such a special love and life together.

Take care my dear friend.

Love,
Pammy

Dear John, the words you said to me every time I saw were Are you working? Are you making money? Loved you for that; as an actress you ask your self the same questions. You cared about me always, and you told it like it was.

I will never forget John's anniversary celebration one year with Mike and Ned, when he roared and took off his shirt (it was December)...meanwhile, his beloved Margaret calmly served cake to over 100 laughing people. This is how we save each other's lives -- and John certainly saved more than his share! Heaven itself must have gotten bigger when his great good soul arrived.

John Flynn was a man who gave selflessly to many in need and to his country. His dear wife Margaret was the love of his life. He was always good for a belly laugh and the truth like no other could deliver! He will be missed by everyone who touched him...they don't make men like John anymore. He was as big as life in person and humble and loving in private. My dear friend Margaret you gave him many years of happiness. He is raising hell in heaven as he did on earth. Hugs and prayers. Love, Lisa Cooley Dillon
