Walter Webster Sr.

Walter L. Webster, Sr. WATERVLIET – Honorable Walter L. Webster, Sr., 82, formerly of Eagle Mills, died Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. Born and raised in Hoosick Falls, he was the son of the late Edwin H. and Florence Callahan Webster. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls. He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War serving as a radarman aboard the U.S.S. Hamilton and the U.S.S. H.F. Baurer. Upon returning home, he resumed his education at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy. Early in his career, he was employed by Prudential Insurance and for over 32 years he was the Director of Field Services for the New York State Insurance Fund before retiring several years ago. He also served as Brunswick Town Justice for many years and served one term on the Rensselaer County Legislature. He was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop #527 in Eagle Mills, a Commissioner and member of the Fire Police of the Eagle Mills Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a member of the Hilight Acting Troup, Troy AOH, Friends of St. Patrick and a Tennessee Squire. He was a member of the NYS Magistrates Association and was a lector, member of the parish council and choir of the former St. Francis deSales Church in Troy. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and summered with his whole family every year in York Beach, Maine. He loved to sing and dance and traveled to many of the National Parks across the United States with his family. He is the beloved husband of Ann Marie “Nancy” O’Donnell Webster; devoted father of Robert J. (Phyllis) Webster of Clifton Park, Kathleen A. (John Parodi) Webster of Albany and the late Walter L. Webster, Jr. and F. Daniel Webster (wife Deborah of Troy); proud grandfather of Meagan (Josh) Berezansky, Jessica (Jeffrey) Webster-Reinhart and Rebecca (Cory) Whalen; great grandfather of Madison Berezansky and Lincoln Whalen; brother of Patricia Webster (late Donald) LeBarron of Corpus Christi, TX, John (Barbara) Webster of Ft. Edward, Edwin Thomas (Mary) Webster of Hoosick Falls and the late Nancy Webster McCabe. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Thursday at 9:15 am from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Church, South Troy. Interment will follow in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
