Mary Boone Obituary

Mary Boone, 100, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024. Born and raised in Montclair, New Jersey, Mary had six siblings. After graduating from Skidmore College, she began her career in physical education in North Troy, New York. She later pursued graduate studies in physical therapy at the University of Colorado and completed post-graduate training at New York's Bellevue Medical Center.

While working as a physical therapist at Highland View Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, Mary met her future husband, Dan Boone. Together, they had four children: Penny (Boone) Marchand, Jim Boone, Rob Boone, and Rebecca (Boone) Morin. The Boone family moved west, and in 1973, settled in Tucson, Arizona, where Dan became a professor in the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences at the University of Arizona.

Mary had many interests and passions, including tennis, hiking, gardening, music, and playing bridge. She was deeply involved in the University of Arizona Women's Faculty group and PEO, an organization that supports the education of women. Additionally, Mary dedicated many years of service as a volunteer at Casas De Los Ninos and in the Victim Witness Program. Her warm smile and kind demeanor touched the lives of many, and she will be dearly missed.

Mary is survived by her children, Penny, Jim, Rob, and Rebecca, their spouses, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel R. Boone.

A private memorial service will be held for family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Casas De Los Ninos, a cause that was dear to Mary's heart.
