Richard Osgood Obituary

Richard L. Osgood of Tucson, AZ left us on September 26, 2012 and is survived by a sister, Danielle Erickson of CA; a daughter, Michelle Castner of NH; a son, Dean Osgood of KY and several other relatives. Having never met a stranger, he is also survived by countless friends who considered him family. The son of Laurence and Elizabeth Osgood, he graced us on January 1, 1935 in Rochester, NH and graduated from the schools there. After a brief stint in the Army, his free spirit pursued it's true following. Well-known for his artistic ability (with which he enjoyed a long career and happy retirement), he was also a champion archer, and an avid golfer, hiker, hunter, and fisherman (usually with good friends and cold beer in tow). He met many people of fame but it was truly the common man that impressed him the most. His cleverness and sharp-wit was ever ready to put one at ease with a good joke, prank or (usually) true story. Always generous in all things, his kindness, loyalty, and friendship are the stuff of legend. He traveled widely throughout his life, and recently fulfilled dream-excursions to New Zealand and Alaska. He is currently on his greatest adventure ever. We shall meet again, my friend. Arrangements by DESERT ROSE CREMATION & BURIAL.

I have tried for so long to get him a message from his friend Elsie and now I guess she will deliver it in person. May he enjoy the after life as much as he did this one. Your art and love live on.

I was so sorry to hear of Richard's passing away. I met him this summer on the Alaskan cruise. We went fishing with 10 others. It was a great time. I met him before we went fishing in Ketchikan at the Annoymous. He really added to a very wonderful cruise. I know that those who have known him for a much longer time really have lost a wonderful person. I got photos of us fishing and some other times on the cruise.

Red and I trudged many a mile on hunting and fishing expeditiona. Red had the uncanny ability to flush out all manor of wild game; and when it came to brook trout, it was lights-out for the trout. He was the greatest trout fisherman New Hampshire ever saw. We will miss him very much. Our sincere condolences. Elayne and Cousin David Seavey

I have many fond memories of playing with neighborhood kids at Osgood's home in Rochester. Also many fun hunting and fishing trips, usually outfished by Dick. Caught my first brook trout with him and shot (now regret) my only two deer while hunting with him. RIP Dick!
