Ruby Phillips
Mommo the Magnificent has left on a great adventure. Ruby Ellen Driscoll Phillips died Friday September 16, 2022 in Tulsa, OK. She was born December 21, 1929 in Bixby, OK to James C and Minnie Jane Burns Driscoll. The snow was deep and the doctor had to spend the night. She attended Bixby schools most of her life, played football there during World War II and graduated in 1947. She met the love of her life, George W Phillips while visiting relatives in Susanville, CA. They were married soon after on November 9, 1952. They had three children- Terry Lynn, born in 1953, Logan in 1956 and Lance in 1959. After early moves, they settled in southwest Tulsa and she remained there until 2005. All of her children graduated from Webster High School and she was actively involved in all of their sports and activities, becoming , along with Ann Fairless, the first female boys' sports coaches in Blue T history. In the June Cleaver world of the 1950's and 60's she worked outside the home and was a feminist before they coined the term. (She wore pearls, but never to vacuum.) She retired from American Airlines and during her time there became the first woman officer in the Transport Workers Union. After 2005, she moved to Mounds, near her childhood home. Passing before her were her parents, her husband George, son Logan, double cousin Jean Burns and great granddaughter Rain. She is survived by her brother James Don Driscoll and wife Betsy, daughter Terry Nunley of Mounds, son Lance and wife Mary of Tulsa, 5 grandchildren, Allisha Craig, Trey Nunley and wife Sophie, Stormy Phillips and wife Brynna, Logan James Phillips and wife Johnna, and Nicona Guse and husband Caleb. She is also survived by 5 step grandchildren, Sher Nunley, Kim Schrader, Sean, James and John Wells. Also surviving are great grandchildren, Emily McAdams, Journey, Adley, Kelton, and Teagan Craig, Ellen-Marie Nunley, Echo Phillips, Jade Hammond. Also 2 great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Services will include a visitation on Thursday , September 22 from 6-7 pm and Celebration of Life on Friday, September 23, at 10 am officiated by Rev. Jeff Taylor. Both services will be held at Leonard-Marker Funeral Home of Bixby.
