Age 71 of Roseville, MN Adventurer, traveler, lover of wilderness, water and woods Made his transition into the beautiful mystery of life on August 28, 2021. He was preceded in death by parents David August Hintzman and Jeanette Charlotte Hathaway, brother Dean Robert Hintzman, and daughter Alisa Ruth Hintzman. He is survived by his wife Peggy Edstrom Hintzman, son Casey Hintzman, stepson Mark Edstrom (Amy Knox), stepdaughter Maria Edstrom (Rob Kosar), and 8 wonderful grandchildren: Jacob (25), Maya (22), Noah (21), Sean (20), Lukas (19), Mackenzie (14), Natalie (8), and Nathaniel (1 month). Dave was born January 4, 1950, and raised in Menomonie, Wisconsin. He was very active in high school basketball, baseball, band and the newspaper. After high school, he served in the US Army Medical Corps and was a Vietnam-era veteran. After his service he returned to the University of Wisconsin-Stout, receiving both B.S. and M.S. degrees in vocational rehabilitation/special education under the G.I. Bill. While attending college, he also worked in local radio broadcasting sports, as an EMT in the hospital ambulance service, and as a deputy sheriff. He loved his work in the field of Vocational Rehabilitation for over 35 years, providing counsel and support for many disabled workers. He was licensed/certified as a rehabilitation counselor, case manager and vocational evaluator. He managed and trained many peers/ professionals in the field over the years, published several articles, and presented at numerous conferences. He was a strong participant in the fellowship of AA and the 12 steps. He was an active member in his men's group for over 20 years and in a Heart-to-Heart couples' group with his wife Peggy. Dave and Peggy were also active in their church, White Bear Unitarian Universalist. Dave and Peggy loved adventure and travel to near and far-off places. They held great respect and reverence for nature and the wilderness. Dave made many visits, with Peggy and as a solo explorer, to Lake Superior, the BWCAW and Voyageurs National Park camping, kayaking, boating, canoeing, fishing, and hiking. Dave and Peggy also enjoyed snowshoeing, and cross-country and downhill skiing in many areas of Canada and the US. Dave will be remembered for his playful zest for life, sense of humor, and compassion and support for anyone needing counsel. Memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 25 at 2 PM outdoors at the home of the deceased. If you would like to memorialize Dave, please feel free to make a donation to a
