Among Joe Flood's many duties at the University of St. Thomas, he was also the long-time coach of the college's Silver Gloves boxing team. Coach Flood introduced and instructed hundreds of young men in the "sweet science" of boxing. Thank you, Coach Flood, for your great work, patience ... and for making boxing fun for all of us.

Dear Monica,
So sorry to hear of the death of your father. He was a man who made a lasting impression on everyone. I will never forget him chaperoning the Irish Way in Ireland and flanked by you and Joelaine at father-daughter dance.

Dear Elaine, Sean, Monica, Joelaine and other family members,
We were saddened when we learned that Joe had passed away.
Thankfully, our faith teaches us that when a loved one dies, life has not ended but only changed, and that those who have gone before us are now at peace.
Some years ago, we lost one of our students at Visitation. Her
name was Bridget Wicker. Bridget's Mass of Christian Burial was
held at St. Joseph's Parish in West St. Paul, and the celebrant was
Father Renaldo Custodio.
During his homily, Father Custodio gently said to Bridget's
grieving parents: "Just remember Judy and Jim, the profound grief
you are experiencing at this time could never be possible had it
not first been preceded by deep love."
May each of you find comfort in those thoughtful and meaningful words.
We will be having a memorial Mass offered for Joe and for
each of you. Peace, strength and God's blessings be with all
of you this day.

To the Flood Family - I went to CST from 1978 to 1982. I was never on any of Joe's teams but met him and knew him.
