Tanya Frisby Obituary

Tanya Mae Frisby departed this mortal life on Oct. 3, 2009 after a courageous battle with her second bout of breast cancer.
She was born in Salt Lake City Utah on May 12, 1954, the daughter of Carl Dean Frisby and Selda Wilma Anderson Frisby, the youngest of eight children.
Tanya grew up in Salt Lake City and Roosevelt, Utah. She graduated in 1972 from Union High School in Roosevelt, Utah. She later developed her secretarial skills by attending Snow and Stevens-Henegar Colleges. Her employment included working in her dad's plumbing shop in Payson, Utah, data entry for J. C. Penney's and DHI, and sewing for Phoenix International. She worked in the Houston, Texas, VA Hospital and it was there she was first diagnosed with breast cancer. She transferred to the Salt Lake VA Center, while undergoing treatment and went on to become a 20-year cancer survivor. She later worked for the Red Cross, United Way and finally her current employer was Liberty Safe in Payson, Utah.
Tanya enjoyed stamp collecting, sewing, embroidery, crocheting, reading, horseback riding and tending her beautiful flower gardens. She was also the family genealogist and history keeper, and had an amazing memory for names and dates.
Tanya was always an active member of the L.D.S. Church. She held many positions and served faithfully in them all.
Tanya is survived by three brothers and three sisters, Duane Carl (Kaye) Frisby, Deanna Jane (Richard, deceased) Muhlestein; John Steven (Connie) Frisby, Warren Roger Frisby, Harriet Wilma (Ray) Carlsen and Zola Jean (Wesley) Hunt. Tanya was a loving aunt to 118 nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Paul Larry Frisby.
The family thanks Liberty Safe and their special employees for all their support during this, her second battle with cancer. Thanks to the Payson 14th Ward members for all their love and care and to
Vista-Care hospice, especially Rosemary, for their comforting care during her final weeks.
Family and friends may call Friday evening, Oct. 9 from 6-8 pm at the Walker Family Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Payson 14th Ward Chapel (the Green Church), 110 South 300 West, Payson, Utah. A viewing will be held from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
Interment will be in the Payson City Cemetery.
Condolences may be sent to the family at: www.walkerfamilymortuary.com.

I wasn't sure how Tanya was doing until tonight when my mother, Juanita Butterfield (Tanya's cousin), let me know that Tanya had passed away. I had put Tanya on a pending friend request on Facebook. I'll leave it there for a while. Because of Tanya, I know what the ancestors on my mother's side of my family looked like. I had a wonderful time at a reunion she organized about three years ago. Tanya was very happy to share her information with others and will always be grateful for that. My heart and prayers go out to her close family and friends.

Sorry to hear about Tanya. Because she was the youngest, I probably knew her least of all. I can’t really remember how often I’ve seen her since we all moved out of our old neighborhood, but the meetings have been few. What I can remember best is a picture of a very young bare footed girl running through your living room playing and laughing as only carefree children can do. Man how many years has it been? She comes from a wonderful family, and I’m sure you will never get over her loss. I will also feel her loss. To me she will always be a special part of some very carefree and memorable years. It will be impossible for me to be at either the viewing or funeral, but my prayers are with your family.

Frisby Family.

I am so sorry to hear about Tanya. I have not seen her in many years, but have very fond memories of her. We spent a lot of time together before the family moved to Roosevelt. Even after the move we spent some very fun weekends together. I will always have those great memories. She was a lot of fun, and we had a lot of laughs together. My love and prays are with all of you.

We are so sad, Tanya worked with Mavis at DHI and was in our BYU 43rd ward. She was a true friend to all and will be missed. God bless her family.

I am so sorry to hear of Tanya's passing. We went to school together in Roosevelt for several years. Her sense of humor was so fun, and she had such caring for everyone. She was truly a good person. Goodbye, old friend.

Aunt Tanya had a smile that was infectious, I couldn't help but to smile when I was around her. She always greeted me and my family with excitement (which made me feel great). Her love for life was intense and an example to me. I'm grateful to have loved her and will greatly miss her. May God be with you in your next grand adventure, til we meet again!!!

After 20 years of being a breast cancer survivor, one would think you had paid your dues. Then to have it come back and take your life. Unbelievable. More needs to be done to eradicate this awful, awful, disease. The things it does to women is unacceptable. Me, being a breast cancer survivor, will continue your fight for the rest of the days I have here on this beautiful planet. Rest in peace Dear sister of breast cancer. The rest of us here, know and appreciate your fight.
