David Therrien Obituary

David G. Therrien, 72, passed peacefully on March 27, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born the son of the late Raoul "Ralph" and Simone (Grimard) Therrien in Manchester, NH, and later retired to Naples, Florida.

Family includes long-time partner in fun Susan Cotton; four children, daughter Tracy Hanson and Rob, son David R. Therrien and Joyce, daughter Shelley Therrien and Oscy, daughter Krysten Cohen and Nate. He was loved by six grandchildren, Lauryn, Sabryna, Brianna, Ryan, Camden, and Molly. His siblings include sisters Arleen Potter, Janet Hunkins, Suzanne Bunnell, late brother Ralph "Sonny" Therrien Jr., and their children.

David owned and operated his family's business, Ralph Therrien & Son Quality Painting, which was established by his father in 1950, the same year David was born. Over the years he became known as both a fine craftsman and artist due to his meticulous attention to detail and his expertise in customizing colors and finishes for his clients. Projects include work in countless elegant homes and institutions such as The Manchester City Library, First Congregational Church, The General John Stark house, and several other important and historic buildings. The family business continues today with his son, David R. Therrien.

David loved fast cars. He typically had a unique sports car to drive. He also had a love and appreciation for classic cars and was given multiple awards for his immaculate restoration of collectible vehicles.

David was a very generous, fun, kind, and thoughtful person. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and was loved by so many people. Above all else, David will be remembered as a devoted and loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

We met David and Susan when we moved into their neighborhood in Naples. As across the street neighbors we enjoyed chatting with him most every morning as he was outside barefooted drinking his coffee and enjoying his morning in his yard.

David was a fun, happy, helpful and caring neighbor. We remember him bringing us coffee with half and half after the hurricane when everyone was without power, but they had a generator so helped everyone. He and Susan watched our dog when Ed had surgery and I was delayed getting back home to care for her. They were such good neighbors.

We are so happy that David has moved on from his suffering and is now at peace. God rest his soul, he will be sorely missed. We wish Susan our best getting through her grief as well as the rest of David's family. It is such a difficult time. He would want everyone to celebrate his life and not be sad.

We met Dave and Susan shortly after moving into our Naples community and they both became very good neighbors and friends. Dave would always greet you with a smile and gracious attitude while offering to help with any project we had going. He often talked of his family and how proud he was of all of them when we would get together. Sadly, his health issues became overpowering, and he left us way too soon, but we were graced with the honor of being his friend. We send our most sincere condolences to you Susan and his family knowing he is at peace while he makes his journey to Heaven. Rest In Peace, dear friend.
