Joseph LaFrance Obituary

Joseph G. LaFrance, 65, of Manchester, NH, died August 21, 2023, at his home, after a period of declining health.

Born in Manchester, NH on October 23, 1957, he was the son of Paul and Ernestine (Charest) LaFrance. He was a lifelong resident of the Queen City.

He graduated from Manchester Memorial High School and earned a bachelor's degree from New England College. He later went on to obtain a masters degree in accounting.

Joseph was an iron worker with the Iron Workers Local Union 7, for many years.

Deeply devoted to his faith, he was a lifelong, active parishioner of Saint Anthony of Padua Church. He held membership with the Knights of Columbus Council 5260, the Legion of One Thousand Men of the Monastery of the Precious Blood, and the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.

Joseph loved going to amusement parks and antique stores. He was an avid outdoorsman. His family was the center of his life. He gave himself wholeheartedly to his wife, children, and grandchildren. His family was a source of great joy to him and he was especially fond of his granddaughter. His dogs brought him much happiness. Joseph will be remembered for his outgoing personality and kind, selfless ways. He had a generosity of spirit, sense of adventure, and joy. He displayed unparalleled vision and was an optimistic believer in the good side of human nature. Joseph was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, as he left an indelible mark on every single life that he touched. He will be deeply missed.

Family members include his beloved wife of thirty-six years, Doris (Gagnon) LaFrance; two sons, Brian LaFrance of Raymond and Joseph LaFrance of Goffstown; two daughters, Renee O'Brien and her husband, Matthew, of Manchester, and Michelle LaFrance of Manchester; a granddaughter, Alivia; two brothers, Arthur LaFrance and Raymond Lafrance, both of Alaska; two sisters, Jeannie Szulc of Bedford and Marie LaFrance of Oregon; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

Joseph Gerard as we knew you was a wonderful man, his faith & endurance were instrumental. His faith to get well was "in the hands of God" in his strong NH accent (we all have accents, lol). Joseph, you will be missed by all, especially, you & I discussing the daily readings of Roman Catholic church. Inviting us to the Apple festival at Saint Anthony's. We'll miss you, Joseph Gerard, our narrow path awaits, God Bless your family as they grief for your loss. Nataliya & Richard Gerard LaCroix

My deepest sympathies on your loss. I am saddened by this news. I grew up on Vinton St. nearby to Joseph's (Joey as I knew him growing up even though I am years older). We reconnected years later on FB over issues and causes dear to us both. Rest in peace 'Joey' and rise in Glory! I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
