Donald Wilson Reese, Sr. 1935 - 2016
CLARK MILLS - Donald Wilson Reese, Sr., 80, of Clark Mills, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2016, at The Pines, at Utica Nursing Home, surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born on March 20, 1935, in Utica, a son of the late Robert J. and Mildred (Wilson) Reese. He was a 1953 graduate of Utica Free Academy. He served his country, with honor, in the United States Navy, from 1951 to 1956, aboard the USS Ticonderoga Aircraft Carrier as a Meteorologist.
On June 30, 1956, he was united in marriage to Mary Shirley Cannarelli.
Mr. Reese was employed with Nynex, as a lineman, cable splicer and test board technician and installer repairman, for 33 years, retiring in 1989, from Verizon.
He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, of Whitesboro.
He enjoyed sailing on Oneida Lake, for many years, with his many good friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife, of 59 years, Mary Shirley Reese, of Clark Mills; his wonderful children: two sons, Donald Reese, Jr., of New Hartford, and Mark Reese, of Jupiter, FL, and a daughter, Nancy Tonnessen, and her husband, Christopher, of GA; daughters-in-law, Toni Reese, of Utica, and Connie Reese, of FL. He also leaves his wonderful grandchildren, Brian Reese, and wife, Kristin, and a great-granddaughter, to be born in April, Bobby Reese, and wife, Courtney, Shauna Mathias, and her husband, Clayton, Paige Tonnessen, and Christopher Reese; a brother, David Reese, and his wife, Mary, of Orlando, FL; nieces, Donna, and husband, Patrick Henry, Linda, and husband, Paul Church; a nephew, Jim Reese; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joanne and Art Place; also a niece, Debbie Perry; and a nephew, Shane Perry.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Pines Nursing Home and Hospice & Palliative Care, for their kindness, complemented by true compassion, that was given to Donald and his family during his illness, over the past four months.
As per Donald's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.
Arrangements are with the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, Forty Main St., Whitesboro.
