Ted Murray Obituary
ILION – Ted Murray, 90, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
Ted was born on June 21, 1931, in Saint Petersburg, FL. His parents, John and Marjorie (Butts) Murray, settled in Frankfort and raised their two sons, Ted and Jack.
Ted graduated from Frankfort High School and Oswego State University. He played college basketball while at Oswego and was a star player. Ted received his Master's Degree in History from Albany State University. He furthered his education by studying the Russian Language and taught both History and Russian at Whitesboro Central School for 30 years. After retiring, Ted volunteered many hours, offering his translation services to refugees in the Utica area.
Ted was married to Joanne Beauchamp Murray for 60 years and had four children: Daniel, Lisa, Steven and Michael. He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne; his daughter, Lisa Beckerman (Steven), of Woodstock, NY; and his son, Steven Murray (Rebecca), of Frankfort. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Matt Murray, Ryan Murray, Marisa Chiarello, Elena Chiarello and Kelsie Peterson.
There will be no calling hours or funeral services.
Ted's funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, NY, Funeral Directors Harry J. Enea, Jr., Kevin E. Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia (315-894-8000).

As soon as I saw the photo of Mr Murray I recognized his face. Although it has been over 50 years since he was one of my favorite teachers in the Whitesboro schools, his smile and his kind demeanor had not changed. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He was a special person.
