Briones
SANTA ROSA, TX. - Maria Esther Briones entered Heaven on January 19, 2013 at Valley Baptist Medical Center.
She was born on August 15, 1925 in Linares, NL Mexico to +Erasmo Sr. and +Tomasita Briones. She lived in Santa Rosa, Texas since the age of 12.
She is preceded in death by her brothers Juan, Pete, Vicente Briones and sisters Maria Ignacia Ovalle (Lorenzo Sr), Vera B. Smith, Francisca Gonzales (Alfredo), nieces Dr. Alicia Ovalle and Olga Briones,nephews Dr. Beau Briones and Freddie Gonzales.
In addition, Esther leaves behind a daughter, Lillia Briones and her favorite granddaughter, Lori Ruiz, who was always at her side even when Esther was hospitalized, and her other favorite grandchildren, Vincent Ruiz (Ashley) and Melody Quezada. Great grandchildren, Nathaniel and Nickolay Ruiz. She also leaves behind three beloved brothers Julian Briones Sr. (Delia), Juan Pablo Briones, (Viviana) and Erasmo Briones Jr. (Dr. Tina). Two sisters Viola Retana (Memo) and Cindy Briones.
Esther leaves her family a legacy of high morals, values and commitment to the Catholic faith. All her family knew her as ``Tia'. Although she had no children of her own, she raised 9 nieces and nephews simply because they needed her. Esther taught them how to do daily chores, go to school, and learn how to have faith in God. She will be missed for her sense of humor and always saying the positive about her family. Esther was a hardworking woman who was greatly respected by her family for providing long term care to her parents without ever a complaint.
Honored pallbearers will be Lori Ruiz, Vincent Ruiz, Lorenzo Ovalle Jr., Joey Gonzalez, Dude Briones and Hector Briones. Honorary pallbearers: ALL her nieces/nephews and her dear friend, Amelia Garza.
Arrangements are by Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen.
Visitation will be on Monday January 21 between 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM.
A mass celebrating Esther's life will on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church in Santa Rosa.
Burial will be at Santo Nombre Cemetery in Santa Rosa.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Gogia, Dr. A Bhaltla, Dr. D. Vargas and Dr. Alfredo Garcia. Thanks to Su Clinica Familiar Staff, VBMC emergency room physicians, nursing staff and MICU and Dr. Dominguez of Weslaco.
