Sandra Kagy Obituary

Sandra E. Kagy bravely fought for 43 years with Systemic Lupus disease and passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 13, 2023, in Venice, Florida.

Sandi's childhood was spent in East St. Louis, Illinois, then she graduated from the University of Illinois with a BS in music. She excelled in performance on the organ. She was an organist for many different churches, and she taught piano students for many years.

Sandi met Dave L. Kagy through the church choir. They were married on June 20, 1959, and enjoyed 62 years of marriage in Springfield, Illinois and Venice, Florida. They were involved for 25 years; enriching marriages by presenting weekends in Christian Marriage Ministries. They raised two sons.

They sang in the Illinois Symphony Chorus and in many Presbyterian church choirs. A favorite pastime was camping in their motorhome. They traveled to all 50 states, Canada, and internationally.

Sandi joined PEO in her college years and then started a new chapter in Springfield, Illinois, where she served a term as Illinois State PEO President and was a member of a chapter in Englewood, Florida.

Sandi is predeceased by her husband, David L. Kagy, and her son David W. Kagy.

Sandi is survived by her son Kenneth Kagy, his wife Deborah (Carver) Kagy of Cedar Falls, Iowa; four granddaughters, Holly Kagy of Gwangju, South Korea, Krystal Kagy of Blain, Minnesota, Kelly (Kagy) Lundeen, and Heather Kagy Locasha (David) of Cedar Falls, Iowa; two great-grandchildren, Kiera and Liam Locasha of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews from Atlanta, Georgia and Phoenix, Arizona.

Sandi had a Celebration of Life at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Venice, Florida.

The interment will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois, on Friday, October 6, 2023, at 11:00 am. Friends are welcome.
