On January 8, 2018, Lisa Meta Marschall, age 89, passed away quietly at her home in Santa Paula with her husband and family members by her side. She had just recently celebrated both her 89th birthday and 67th wedding anniversary in November of 2017.

A wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Lisa was born in Wolfsbruchermoor Stade, Hamburg, Germany on November 12, 1928 to Deitrich and Maria Abbenseth. Deitrich passed away when Lisa was young, and her mother married Fritz Eichorn, who became Lisa's beloved stepfather.

Lisa married Harald Marschall in Hammelwerden, Germany on November 24, 1950. In 1952, Lisa, who was pregnant with their second son Bernie, and Harald, along with their young son Wolfgang, came to the United States. The family settled in Santa Paula where over the next four years Lisa and Harald had two daughters, Brigitte and Monica. Lisa and her family lived and worked in the Limoneira area for nearly 10 years before purchasing and moving to a new home in the Santa Paula Oaks in 1962.

A caretaker of others for most of her working life throughout Santa Paula, Lisa loved to go fishing with Harald on their boat at Lake Casitas, and she was proud to say that she caught a 15 pound bass ? a record that no family member ever topped, despite their best efforts. She also loved working in the yard at home and growing orchids.

Lisa is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harald, and her four children: Wolfgang (Elizabeth), Bernie (Michelle), Brigitte Motley, and Monica Marschall, who lovingly cared for our mother for the last 9 years. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Gilbert Alarcon Jr., Candace (Pat) Long, and Amy (Scott) Jones, and Shayla Marschall; as well as six great-grandchildren: Megan Marschall, Chelsea Marschall, Safire Alarcon, Logan Long, Payton Long, and Zane Jones. She leaves her surviving sister Renate and brother Richard in Germany, as well as multiple brothers- and sisters-in-law and relatives. She was pre-deceased by her father Deitrich, stepfather Fritz, and mother Maria; brothers Erwin (survived by Elfriede), and Gerhard; granddaughter Jacklyn Marschall, grandson Bryce Marschall (survived by Christine Koontz). There will be no funeral services. A private memorial service will be addressed at a later date.
