Michael Zermeno Obituary
1981-2014
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Michael so early in life; he passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 in Ventura.
Michael was born in Ojai, CA on April 21, 1981. He attended local schools, graduating from Buena High School and attended Ventura Junior College. Michael became a paramedic with Gold Coast Ambulance Service and continued his education until he became a firefighter/paramedic eight years ago. This was his calling. He was employed by the Ventura County Fire Department and was currently at Station #23 in Oak View to be close to his precious daughter, who was the love of his life.
Michael is survived by his beloved daughter, Coralie Zermeno; parents Ron and Julie Zermeno; brother, Brandan Zermeno and his fianc Katelynn Thomas; grandmother, Doris Manley; girlfriend, Dayna Cushing; uncles, Dennis Zermeno and wife Christy, Don Zermeno and wife Nina; and numerous cousins.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to assist Michael's daughter. Checks made payable to Coralie Zermeno - RBC Account, may be sent to V.C.P.F.A. P.O. Box 385, Camarillo, CA 93011, in care of Coralie Zermeno.
Services will take place Sunday, February 16, 2014, 11a.m. at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Road, Ventura. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home. Condolences may be left at TedMayrFuneralHome.com.

Ron, Julie and Family,
I had the honor of getting to know Mike several years ago when he came to work on the squad with us at Station 50.
Mike was a hard worker and always willing to be a part of the team. Mike liked to tell us about his parents, working with his dad and the fishing trips he would take with him. The crew at Station 50 was often the recipient of the bounty from a great fishing trip! Thank you for your generosity. It was great to meet you all the times you came to visit him at the station. I will miss Mikes quiet demeanor and his friendship.

It is with heavy hearts we are sorry for your loss. Each and everyone he touched through his trail of life, have been blessed. He was a handsome, genuine, and a devoted person. Saying good bye to you was so hard. You were my first love, thank you for all those years we shared together, I will always remember the good times we shared, the life lessons we learned together and cherish amazing the daughter we created! Our daughter lost the love of her life on Tuesday. We Loved him too!
Mike was such a great guy! Every time we saw him I was greeted with a hug and Dave with a firm hand shake! Mike was always there for Dayna especially this last year helping her get thru some family sadness of our own. Dave said it best when he said "all you ever want for your daughter is a guy that will treat her right, and Mike was that guy! I feel like we have been robbed" Mike also taught our daughter how a good man should treat someone you love, putting Cora first was a lesson Dayna learned to acknowledge was only because he loved his daughter the way a good daddy should! We are grieving all of the why's and what could have been.
Mike will be a part of our families memories forever. None of us will ever forget how long he sat at the poker tables in Vegas last Thanksgiving! He was a good gambler. That same weekend we saw another side of him when he was especially kind to Dayna's grandparents at Thanksgiving dinner always offering to get them anything they needed! He also had gratitude! He always offered to pay his own way and was gracious when we wouldn't accept
Every time we were with Mike he would speak about his family, weather it be his dad's fishing adventures or his mom's shopping sprees usually revolving around Cora. Then there was his grandma Doris, How sad that the first time we would meet was under these circumstances but I felt that I knew her, Dayna and Mike always told stories about witty, funny and kind things she had done! Then there was all the talk of Brandon and Katie's wedding. Not sure he was too excited about wearing that suit! We knew he came from a loving caring family even if we had never met them because of the kind of man he was. We also came to love Cora and our hearts ache for her. Her mother deserves great credit for raising such a beautiful, smart, outgoing and loving little girl! our hearts go out to you too Michelle! I will think of Mike every time I see a butterfly!
