Allan Clark Obituary
Allan Clark
windsor, VT - Allan J. Clark
On April 5th, 2023, Allan J. Clark passed away peacefully at DHMC after a brief and unexpected illness, surrounded by his wife, Yvette, and his three stepchildren. He was 69 years old.
Allan was born in Quebec, Canada, the eldest of four, to Simonne and Leonard Clark in 1953, the oldest of four children.
After graduating high school, he became a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces, enlisting from 1970 to 1976. He would happily regale any willing ear (or any ears perceived as willing) his love of the tanks he worked on and drove during this time.
He maintained an avid love of military history for the rest of his life and was an historical re-enactor of the French & Indian, Revolutionary and 1812 time periods, of which he formed, and was Commander of, an 1812 Canadian Voltigeur unit.
Through this love of history, he met and married his beloved wife Yvette in 1995.They returned to Allan's home city south of Montreal, living there for two years before returning to the USA to Windsor, VT.
Allan worked at New Hampshire Industries, of Claremont, NH, for over fifteen years as a production/machine operator. After retiring, he worked briefly for the local school district, but most enjoyed volunteering at Rachel's Kitchen in Windsor, which he did for many years after his retirement; he really liked making omelettes.
He treasured his friendships with the those he served with in the Canadian military, to the point he learned how to Zoom during COVID to keep in touch with them. He was a member of the Otterburn Park Legion in Quebec, returning there frequently for military ceremonies and gatherings. He would also take these events as opportunities to stock up on bagels, pate, and Schwartz's smoked meat, which he lamented he could not get in his area.
Allan is survived by his wife, Yvette, his mother Simonne, stepchildren Ruth Birch, Hannah Birch and Simon Birch, sisters Nancy and Oneda, brothers Terry and Michael Clark, and well as his many much-loved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Rachel Harlow United Methodist Church, 165 Main St, Windsor, VT on April 22 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Allan's name to the Dartmouth Cancer Center.
Special thanks to all the nurses, doctors, and staff of Dartmouth Hospital. His family would especially like to thank his ICU nurses, Hannah, Liz, and Ethan, who were wonderful, and whose kindness and compassion can never be fully described nor repaid.
