Marie Woodside Obituary

Marie J. (White) Woodside, loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister of Waltham, died Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, after a valiant battle against pancreatic cancer. She was 64. Born December 20, 1953 in Waltham, she was the daughter of Elizabeth A. (Kelly) White and the late Lawrence F. White. Born, raised and educated in Waltham, Marie graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1971 and received her Bachelor's Degree in Business from Newbury College in Brookline. Marie married the love of her life, Robert (Rob) I. Woodside at St. Mary's Church in Waltham on July 28, 2012. Together they lived life to the fullest and made the most of every day. Marie was all about family..they were her main priority and focus. She rarely missed a sporting event, dance recital or concert. She was an avid New England sports fan, but especially loved Fenway Park, the Red Sox and Jason Varitek. She grew up spending summers on The Cape, so the beach was her definite "Happy Place", with Aruba being her favorite beach destination. She would call herself One Fine Irish Man, never too shy to belt out an Irish tune, dance a jig or play the spoons. Her laugh was unique and infectious with a personality to match. Marie worked in accounting for Hologic Corporation in Marlborough for eleven years and previously worked for Airius Corporation in Framingham for over 20 years. Marie was very involved in the Waltham community. She served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary's Church and Waltham Crossings. She was a member of St. Mary's Parish Council and a Board Member of St. Mary's Apartments. She was one of the first female members of the Waltham Lions Club, and together with her husband Rob, was very active in many Lions Club projects. In addition to her husband Rob, she leaves her mother, Elizabeth A. White of Waltham, Rob's children, Nicholas Woodside and his wife, Celeste of Waltham, Adam Woodside and his wife, Melanie of Hudson; her siblings, Larry White (Deborah Wessell) of Nashua, New Hampshire, Susan Travers and her husband, Joseph of Bourne, Linda Cunningham and her husband Richie, of Hudson, and Clare Kidling and her husband Bruce, of Bourne; her mother-in-law, Anne Woodside of Weston; her brother-in-law, Fred Woodside and his wife, Linda of Weston; her sister-in-law, Maria (Termie) Freitag of Newington, Connecticut; Rob and Marie's grandchildren Neko and Milo Woodside of Waltham. Marie is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews and friends. A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, April 7th, in Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Memorials may be made to Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage, New York 11714 (www.lustgarten.org) or St. Vincent de Paul at St. Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham, MA 02453.

To the White and Woodside families: Michael and I extend our sincere condolences on Marie's passing. I remember her mostly from her attendance at the scouting events which she would attend in support of her nephews. Marie always seemed to be wearing a smile and it was a pleasure to be in her presence.

One evening Jack opened the front door and said "It's one of the Whites, but I don't know which one." It was jolly - smiling Marie. In Atlanta on business she rented car and was determined to find us. A wonderful surprise visit. We have great memories of Cape Cod with the White families. Sending love & sympathy & extra hugs to Betty.

Dear Marie, Warren's 3rd daughter, and fellow Sox-lover.
Today is the Home Opener. I will always remember and treasure your taking me to my first Fenway game to celebrate my 65th. So many cherished memories.
I know you'll be keeping an eye on all of us, especially dear Rob. Could you please take an occasional peek at and put in a good word for "our boys" of summer?
Be at peace, sweet girl. Love, Patricia

Dick and I send our deepest sympathy and love to Rob and all of Marie's family. We shared so many good times with Marie; she was such a loyal and fierce friend. It is so hard to imagine life without her. She was there to share the good times with us and when life hit us with all it has, she was with us to help put the pieces back together.

Love to you our great friend. The memories will stay in our hearts and in time, we will be able to laugh at them once again.

On behalf of many from Hologic. Love is stronger than cancer is a 200% on-point statement for Marie. She will be remembered wearing a RED SOX jersey and hat on Opening Day as well as being a devoted fan of all Boston sports teams. She will be remembered by her loving family and friends that shared her passion for the blond beaches and gentle surf in Aruba and other travel destinations. She will be remembered wearing multiple colored ribbons in support of pink for breast cancer awareness, hence her title Girl's Gone Miles, a red ribbon for blood donations and purple for pancreatic cancer among other causes. Moreover, Marie will be remembered with a smile that could light up a room, great sense of humor and she lived her life with substance, spice and gusto. Rest easy our dear colleague and friend Marie.

Your friendship with Kathy was such a deep and loving bond, through this lifetime and beyond to the next. I felt so much joy for you when you became Bob's bride and had the happiness you deserved. Thank you for your kindness , thank you for your wicked humor. I loved your frank honesty and I will hear your lyrical laughter always. Rest now sweet girl.
