Betty Morgan Obituary

Betty Jane (Volonte) Morgan died peacefully in her sleep at Riderwood Village on September 9, 2024, at age 95. Betty was born in Ossining, NY on January 8, 1929, to August and Alice (DeFrates) Volonte. She was raised in Ashville, NC and the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Betty graduated from Wilson Teachers College with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She married her college sweetheart, Paul Morgan and they lived in Adelphi, MD for nearly 50 years. Betty and Paul loved traveling and camping and there were many wonderful road trips in a VW bus. Betty worshipped at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Silver Spring, MD, where she was active in arts and crafts shows, flea markets, rummage sales, and choir. Betty's fondness of crafts, antiques and collectibles led to her serving as founder and manager of the Fig Tree at Good Shepherd, co-founder of the Collectible Shop in Takoma Park, MD, and manager for many years of the Treasure Chest at Riderwood Village in Silver Spring, MD.

Betty is survived by her children, Glen Morgan (Kim), Carol Milberger (Wayne), Timothy Morgan, and Clifford Morgan (Esther). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tyler Morgan, Adam Morgan (Mariana Garcia), Sara Freudensprung (Brandon), Michelle Milberger (Zach Van Winkle), Jeffrey Milberger, Hannah Purcell (Ian), and Paula Morgan; and great-grandchildren, Lydia, Mo, Sam, Abigail, Audrey, Benjamin, Alice, and Luna. Betty was preceded in death by Paul (husband), Robert Volonte (brother) and Brittany (granddaughter).

Betty was devoted to her family, loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and relished the warmth of many close friends over the years. She enjoyed every fiber of life and passed that on to her family. She will be missed by all of us.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Riderwood's Benevolent Fund (Silver Spring MD) or Montgomery Hospice (Rockville, MD).

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on December 16, at Riderwood Chapel in Silver Spring, MD.
