Costella Hayes Obituary
A lifetime resident of Alexandria, VA, peacefully departed this life with her family by her side on November 19, 2005. Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Henry "Sugar Baby" Hayes. She is survived by three children, Linda M., Henry Jr. (Linda) and Kevin Hayes; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Campbell and a host of other relatives and friends. Ms. Hayes will lie in state at Third Baptist Church, 917 Princess St., Alexandria, VA, on Monday, November 28, 2005 from 7 to 9 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at 11 a.m. Interment Quantico National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1131, Fairfax, VA 22038-1131. Arrangements by PEYTON FUNERAL SERVICES, Arlington, VA.

Dear Linda, Henry & Kevin:
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. Our parents were great friends and we grew up in houses filled with music. Nobody could spin a disc like "Sugar Bear" and nobody could lift your spirits with a song like your Mom and my Mom, "Ms Elsie". May precious memories bring you comfort in the days ahead.

My prayers go out to Linda Hayes and the Hayes family. I'm sorry I am unable to attend the services. But Ms. Costello was like a Mom to meet. I loved talking to her every Saturday night. Take care, and God bless.

Linda, Henry and Kevin: May you take comfort in knowing that the God who watched over your mother through all of her trials, triumphs, ups and downs now holds her hand in her heavenly home. May she rest in peace. Your mother stood in on many an occasion as a surrogate parent for me while we grew up at Third Baptist. I can still see her smiling face!! Rejoice in her new beginning, and know that you will see her smiling face again.
