"Morning, my lovelies!

I committed uncle Rick´s ashes yesterday. Or, at least Grandmommie´s portion. I read a couple of scriptures from my LS Adrienne (classic ones-Psalms). And, Ecclesiastes. Thanks for reminding me of that one, Steph. It´s a great one!

I had been standing/walking on the beach, but not close enough for the water to reach me. But as soon as I finished reading the last scripture, the water/tide roared up to me and covered up my feet/ankles then retreated! I was like WOW!!! I think he approves.

Then I walked out far enough to scatter the ashes in the water.

May he continue to rest in power! " Terri

I wear our wedding ring everyday and know things happen for a reason but sometimes there are no words that explain the reality of what had taken place. I know you are okay and I am thankful for the love you gave. You were truly a warrior and yes we did not know your greatness but truly know it now. Always love Carole

I can not express how this unexspected departure hit my heart. You were always supported and ready to organize for what was right. You were always respectfull and willing to protect. Thank God I had a chance to share a litle bit of life with you. To your Mom I know how much you loved her as a matter of fact he adored you. Rick you made your mark, we will talk about it when we meet again. Thanks.

My deepest condolences to the Malachi family. Rick was a wonderful spirit in human form who served his community well. Can never forget our Statehood movement in which Rick's leadership & passion for the rights of DC residents added value to the desired end goals. RIP Rick, job well done!

My deepest condolences to the Malachi Family, Rick's colleagues and friends. I have known Rick since our high school days at St. Anthony's and we reconnected years ago at the DC DMV. Words cannot express my shock and grief right now. Rick was a good friend who always had a generous heart, strong opinions, and sound advice. You are loved and will be missed by me and many others. Though your time was brief, your impact was great...
Rest In Peace, my friend... I am blessed to have known you and your friendship.

I met Malachi working at UDC through one of my colleagues about 15 years ago. I just recently ran into Malachi about a month ago, he was rushing into student accounts. We hugged he went on and so did I, Malachi would come into my office & just talk. Devastated rest in peace my friend.

As I affectionately called him Ricky, our paths crossed several times as cousins who shared a desire to work toward social justice for citizens of African descent. I will miss those political debates but I know he is resting with the ancestors and we shall meet again. May God keep Aunt Flossie and family in constant care. My prayers will be with you.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of my friend and colleague, DuJuan "Rick" Malachi, who I remember on today as a passionate advocate for the rights of the underserved communities in the District of Columbia. He was a voice for the voiceless. Truly a force to be reckoned with (Lol), but a man with a caring and loving heart. His faith and tenacity to stand and fight for that which was right; his embrace of the power of our ancestors and African Heritage; and the exemplified truth of him knowing who he was (a man born with a purpose to make a difference) will always be remembered. May your legacy live on. You will be greatly missed my friend. Rest In Peace. It does not have to be good-bye.

To Mrs. Flossie Malachi and the entire Malachi family and the SEIU Local 722 family:
My condolences offered in the loss of this giant man. At the present moment, I'm at a loss for words due to his untimely departure, but God knows best. His unique advocacy, gifts and many talents are irreplaceable and leaves a huge void in the lives of all he touched.
In closing, I comfort you with words from the Gospel of John, chapter 14 verse 18, "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you," and from Psalm 30 verse 5-b "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." My thoughts and prayers are with you.
