Of Reston, VA, died on January 18, 2004 at his home. He was born March 20, 1923 in St. Cloud, MN to the late Joseph and Jennie Press Sleevi. Gene was a World War II Army veteran who served in the Army Signal Corps on Iwo Jima. He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Mary Lou Sleevi; loving and devoted father of Debbie Doyle of Fairfax, VA, Mark Sleevi of Richmond, VA, Tim Sleevi of Hastings, MI, Maura Sleevi of Reston, VA and Lisa Thomas of Fairfax, VA; brother of Monica Daniels, Gen Bastien and Eileen Goerger, all of St. Cloud, MN. Also survived by 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 21, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at ADAMS GREEN FUNERAL HOME, 721 Elden St., Herndon, VA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 22, at 11 a.m. at PAX Community at St. Luke's Orthodox Church, 6801 Georgetown Pike, McLean, VA. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Chestnut Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you make a contribution that will benefit humanity.

Very sorry for your loss. I knew Gene many years ago at Marquette U. I'm a J-School graduate of 1949. Joyce Harnett, a classmate, gave me the bad news today. We lost a daughter last year so we can readily understand the loss of your husband and granddaughter. We will remember Gene in our prayers.
