Mr. Kenna was born in Washington, DC on November 18, 1947, and grew up on Yuma Street in Tenleytown NW, Washington, DC. The family moved to Northern Virginia where he lived and worked the rest of his life. He resided in Fairfax with his wife Janice Kirby Kenna.

He was the son of Mark J. Kenna and Ruth Hampton Kenna who preceded him in death. His first wife, Victoria Sutphin Kenna also preceded him in death.

Kenna and wife Caroline Kane Kenna, of Huntersville, NC; two children, daughter Jennifer Kenna, of Dallas, NC, and son, Matthew Kenna, of Gallatin, VA; and granddaughter Ashton; numerous nieces and nephews.

His gregarious nature made him a natural salesman. He worked in retail, the grocery business sold homes for Yonas, co-owned a handyman business, and helped maintain the fleet for UPS. Mr. Kenna was the unofficial mayor of Oley Glen where he and his wife lived.

There will be a funeral mass on Thursday November 30, 2023, at 11 a.m., at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 3901 Woodburn Road, Annandale, VA. At his request, Mr. Kenna's body was cremated,

and his ashes will rest with his parents.

If you are unable to attend the service, the family asks that you pause to remember Jim and to smile and laugh just as he did so much in life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests prayers and donations to St. Ambrose, The American Lung Association or to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
