Themla Fant Obituary

FANT, THELMA V.

Themla Taylor Fant, 92, a former resident of Connellsville, PA, died peacefully in her sleep on June 26, 2003, at the St. Thomas More Nursing Home in Hyattsville, MD. She was the eldest of nine children born to Garfield Taylor and Lula Simmons Taylor, who all predeceased her.

She married Napoleon Fant in 1934 and moved to the Village of Trotter, PA. From this union were born five children who survive her: Betty Paige of Washington, D.C., Robert Fant of Harrisburg, PA, Thomas Fant of Arlington, VA, Allen Fant of Burke, VA, and Sandra Smith of Leonardtown, MD. She was left to rear these children in 1952 when her husband was killed an automobile accident. In 1988 she moved with her daughter, Sandra Smith and was with her until her failing health caused her to be admitted to a nursing home in December 2002. She was able to survive colon cancer with surgery in 1999, but recently had been diagnosed with liver cancer.

Other survivors include five grandchildren, Tracy Moseley, Brian Paige, Bruce Paige, Jarrod Smith, and Allen Fant Jr.; six great-grandchildren, Hugh Moseley, Shannon Moseley, Brittany Moseley, Brian Paige II, Armani Paige, and Nigel Paige, and a great-great grandchild, Briana Moseley. Services were held on June 30, 2003.
