William "Bill" E. Turco of Silver Spring, Maryland, died suddenly on March 10, 2022, at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland. Bill was 59 years old. Bill was a CPA and the Exempt Organization Senior Director, Tax, at RSM US LLP, specializing in nationally and internationally operating charitable and tax-exempt membership organizations. He provided tax advice to various tax-exempt organizations, including schools, churches, national and international charities, and professional membership organizations. He could give detailed information on many of the subtle issues found in the Federal Tax Code and he thrived on being a mentor and teacher. Bill was the Co-Author of the Tax Compliance Section of the AICPA Not-For-Profit Certificate Program. For his clients and friends, his tax advice would often start with, "no, that is not legal," but would always end with "let me help you find a better way." Bill worked with RSM for 17 years, and before that, he was a Manager at BDO. Bill served on the board of directors of the non-profit Warriors at Ease. Bill was the beloved son of Martha W. Turco and Ronald F. Turco Sr. (Judy). He was the brother of Ronald F. Turco Jr. (Gale), Donald W. Turco, Kathleen M. Turco; and the uncle of Alex Turco (Caroline) and Kyle Turco (Olivia); and great uncle of Beckett, Colette, and Henry Turco. Bill was born in Florida, and raised in Wheaton, Maryland. Bill received his B.A. in Economics from the University of Maryland in 1987 and earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 1993. Bill's family, colleagues, and friends will hold a Celebration of Life post tax filing season in April as he would want it.
