Pauline M. Rader, 91, of Sumner, died Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the Tripoli Nursing & Rehab.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sumner with Rev. Ralph Davis and Deacon Michal Schemmel officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Sumner. Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. - 7 p.m., Monday, June 10 at Becker & Son Funeral Home in Sumner and for one hour preceding Mass at the Church on Tuesday. A Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Pauline's name to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sumner or the Bremer County 4-H. www.beckermilnesrettig.com.Pauline Minnie, daughter of August and Leona (Nicklaus) Seehase was born July 10, 1932, in Sumner. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church-Buck Creek, rural Sumner. Pauline received her early education in a Country School, rural Sumner and graduated from Sumner High School in 1951. On April 12, 1955, she was united in marriage with Donald Rader at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. To this union five children were born, Diane, Donna, Elaine, Mark, and Gary. The couple farmed in the Sumner area for many years. In addition to crop farming, they also milked cows and raised chickens. In 1986, Pauline began working at the Hillcrest Home in Sumner and did so until retiring in 2010. Pauline was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, serving as a first communion teacher, confirmation teacher, and custodian of the Church for over fifty years. She also served as a 4-H leader for over thirty years. Pauline was an excellent cook and baker (was known for her delicious cinnamon rolls) and had a beautiful garden, and loved tending to her animals. She had an extremely hard work ethic and lived a life dedicated to her Faith.
Pauline is survived by her five children, Diane (Todd) Gilliland of Cedar Rapids, Donna Laabs of Sumner, Elaine (Gordon) Davis of Sumner, Mark Rader of Floyd, and Gary (Kristi) Rader of Sumner; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Verla (Gordon) Kelly of Maynard; two sisters-in-law, Corrinne Meyer of Sumner and Flora (Ronald) Hogue of Missouri; brother-in-law, Gene Murray of Waverly; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald on October 1, 2017; son-in-law, Roger Laabs; two sisters, Sharon Murray and Marilyn (Glen) Kramer; and brothers-in-law and sister-in-laws, Walter Rader, Verlynn and Milly Rader, Milton "Shorty" Meyer, and Mary Kay Winter.
