Watertown, WI - Susan (Susie, Sue) M. Hepp, 65, of Watertown, fought a courageous battle with cancer and passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.
Sue was born on May 22, 1959 to Edward and Virginia (nee Kmiecik) Gawel in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Prairie State College with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She worked as a dental hygienist for over 40 years. She loved her job, her work family, and her patients, working with Dr. Tom Stamas in Oconomowoc for the past 27 years.
Sue met Steve while he was operating the Silver Eagle Saloon in Watertown. They were together for over 20 years and married for 14. Sue was immediately welcomed into the Hepp family as the two of them were so good for each other. They were always so much fun to be around and shared a lot of memories together. They loved to go on long road trips, hosted years of Mexico trips through the bar, and Las Vegas was another one of their favorite destinations.
Sue was a fan of the Chicago teams, rooting for the Cubs, the Blackhawks, and the Bears. She loved to listen to her Cubbies in the sunshine at her home. She was a member of the Watertown Parade Committee for several years, and also contributed her time to the Jefferson County Tavern League and Marine Corps League.
Most of all, Sue was the greatest friend to everyone. It was impossible to meet her and not love her. She had many friends and many friends who became family. Her cousins were more like siblings. Gatherings will never be the same without Sue.
We are devastated with Sue's loss, but we know Steve and other loving family members were there to greet her with open arms.
Sue is survived by her two daughters: Shannon "Shae" Hepp, Summer (Jon Heaton) Hepp; two grandchildren: Carlos Gonzalez, Jocelyn Bright; siblings: Edward Jr. (Cheryl) Gawel, James (Ashley) Gawel, Robert (Laura) Gawel; sister-in-law, Vickie Gawel; siblings-in-law, Sharon Nienow, Dale Hepp, Jerry (Linda) Hepp, Dave (Jane) Hepp, Russ (Jill) Hepp, Rose (Vic) Anderson, Ron ( Laurie ) Hepp; her beloved dog, "Lucy girl" aka "Her Lulabelle," (who brought out that beautiful smile again after she lost Steve), as well as many other relatives and friends.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband Steve, her parents, Edward and Virginia, and brother David Gawel.
