Sue Watson Obituary

Sue Ann (Peterson) Watson
June 11, 1946 - November 10, 2024
Sue Linke was born June 11, 1946 in Wenatchee, WA, to Lawrence and Frances Peterson, owners of Pete's Body Shop. Sue spent her childhood in Wenatchee, as a member of Brownies Troop 1 and Girl Scouts, and attending Lincoln Elementary, Pioneer Junior High, and Wenatchee High School. After graduation in 1964, she attended Wenatchee Valley College before transferring to Central Washington University, where she graduated in 1968 with a teaching degree.
In the fall of 1968 Sue began her teaching career in Ephrata, WA. After several years, a month-long trip to Europe, and another year of teaching in Kennewick, Sue married her first husband and returned to Wenatchee, where she taught reading and English for 26 years at Eastmont Junior High School. She earned her Master's Degree in Curriculum in 1991. Sue retired from full-time teaching in 1999 after 31 years, but couldn't quite stay away, substitute teaching for another 13 years.
Sue married her second husband, Wilford Linke, in 1998. Sue and Will spent 14 years traveling the world together and took approximately 30 cruises, including to Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America, the Mediterranean, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, and a grand 113 day cruise around the world on the MS Queen Victoria and the Queen Mary. On all these cruises Sue collected treasures from her travels, which she proudly displayed in her home. She and Will also learned to dance on their cruises, an activity they would enjoy together for the rest of their lives.
When she wasn't on a cruise, Sue was active in her retirement at the Wenatchee Senior Center, helping with dances and playing pinochle, bunco, and other games. She loved sewing, crafting, baking peach bread, gardening, and knitting scarves. Her great joy was visiting with and caring for her grandchildren. She always kept a box of toys ready for a visit from them.
Sue passed away on November 10, 2024 in Wenatchee with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilford Linke; her mother, Frances Peterson; her father, "Pete" Lawrence Peterson; and grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
She is survived by her sons, Andrew Ray Olaf Watson (Chrysia) of Portland, OR and Jason Aaron Lawrence Watson (Sarah) of Chelan, WA; grandchildren, Milo Aidan Watson and Clara Joy Mia Watson of Portland, OR and Logan Clark Watson and Landon Alexander Watson of Chelan, WA; and sister, Gerry Emery of Kennewick, WA.
Services will be held Friday, December 6 at 10:30 a.m., at Faith Presbyterian Church, 200 S. Kentucky Ave, East Wentachee, WA. A memorial luncheon will be provided after the service.

Sue will be greatly missed. I have spent much time off and on playing at the senior center. She was always happy to book me for dances and became a friend over the years.

Mourning the loss of this remarkable lady. We were colleagues at EJHS, who became trusted friends through an arduous but worthwhile process. Making a difference in the lives of our Language Arts students was our common ground.
Her classroom Christmas projects blessed students every year, as we borrowed the Home Ec. room and we all made dozens of scrumptious cookies & fudge to gift to their familes. Making memories to last a lifetime.
Well done, Sue! I'll see you in Heaven someday...

Sue and I have been friends since Kindergarten. I cant remember a time in my life when Sue wasn't there. We were know as the Peterson girls because we both shared the same last name. We shared an apartment together one summer at Central. We both went into education and became teachers. We each married and had two boys. Through all the years Sue and I stayed close sharing joys, heartaches, and special moments. I will miss her so much.

Sue was always part of my life. We were there for each other in many ways. We laughed together, we cried together, we shared secrets as if we were sisters. In many ways we thought of ourselves as sisters. We said "I love you" to each other many times in the almost 60 years of being together. I feel as part of me has gone with her. I am missing her so much but am glad I have beautiful memories. Rest in peace my best friend

Sue and I were friends for many years. We were the same age too. I am so sorry to hear of her passing at age 78. On May 29 I too almost died and my family was told that I would be with them no longer but 6 mos after many treatments and rehabilitation I am still here but unable to walk nor drive. Thinking about your Mom and our times together. Am so sorry for you but know she is home now with our LORD.
