John Dunphy Obituary

John Joseph Dunphy, Jr., 90, of Fripp Island died June 24, 2021.
He was the son of Helen Hurley Dunphy and Dr. John J. Dunphy.
He graduated from Belmont Hill School in 1949 and Harvard College in 1953. During his time at Harvard he joined the Marine Corp PLC Program. Upon his graduation he received his 2nd Lt. Commission and served in Korea. Retiring as a Marine Captain, he received his MBA from Northeastern University. His business career included Raytheon, Edo Corp and United Technologies. He was a tennis player and a golfer however he was a passionate fisherman all his life. He was an active member of the S.C. Angler Tagging Program.
John is survived by his wife, Joan Glover Dunphy , three children: Linda Gibson of Southboro, MA; Jonathan of Fripp Island; and Leslie Austin of Mechanicsville, VA; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren also survive.
