Phyllis Bloyd Obituary
Phyllis Bloyd, age 90 of Griggsville, IL passed away Monday, March 10, 2025, at Timber Point Healthcare Center in Camp Point, IL. She was born September 25, 1934, in Valley City, IL to Elmer and Laverne Whitaker Hobson.
Phyllis graduated with the Griggsville High School Class of 1952 and was a past member of Griggsville Church of the Nazarene. She worked for King Feed for over ten years, both in the office and operating the scales. Phyllis later began cleaning houses for area residents including Betty Logan, Edna Windmiller, Betty Hannant, Alma Lee Vail, Jim Cadle and many others. She was a loyal Cubs fan who counted Leon Durham as her favorite player. Phyllis enjoyed being at home, loved her flowers and was an avid reader who served for many years on the Griggsville Library board. She never met a stranger, was very outgoing, and had an amazing sense of humor and will be dearly missed by friends and family.
Phyllis is survived by sons, Kevin (Jackie) Heineman of Omaha, NE and Lance (Alison) Bloyd of Carney, OK; daughters, Rebecca (Rob) Van Dongen of Crown Point, IN and Andrea (Don Smith) Bloyd of Chandlerville, IL; grandchildren, Melissa (Lee) Koenig, Kendra Leedy, Konner Leedy, Tanner Leedy, Lane Bloyd, and Aubrey Bloyd; great grandchildren, Andrew Koenig, Bella Koenig, Evan Koenig, Matthew Koenig, and Gunner Leedy; sister-in-law, Sue Hobson; and many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Laverne Hobson; brothers, Loraine (Wanda) Hobson and Jerry Hobson; and son-in-law, Wes Lewis.
Per her wishes, no services will be held. Memorials are suggested to be made to Griggsville Library. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
