Annabelle Ames Obituary

QUINCY -- Annabelle L. Ames, 92, of Quincy, died at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2018, at Good Samaritan Home.

Annabelle was born Oct. 4, 1926, in Quincy, a daughter of Frank and Irene Landon Huechteman. She married George Vernon Ames on Feb. 26, 1955, in Kansas City, Mo. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1982.

Annabelle worked out of her home caning and selling chairs. She loved to play bingo and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She greatly enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. Annabelle was a past president of the Quincy District Association of the Blind for many years.

She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Boden, of Quincy; seven grandchildren, Tricia Boden, Shanna (Dustin) Willis, Brad (Erin Blacketer) Boden, Jenessa (Brandon Gilker) Boden, Amy (Mackenzie) Smith, Cory Ames and Cody Shoopman; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four nephews and nieces, Randy (Carlene) Williams and Terry (Brenda) Williams, both of Payson, Ill., Michelle (Rick) Campbell and Cindy (David) Timme, both of Quincy; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her husband, George, Annabelle was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kim Ames; a son-in-law, Brad Boden; a brother, Robert Huechteman; and a sister, Sandra Williams.

SERVICES: 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, with the Rev. Steve Disseler officiating.

VISITATION: 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

MEMORIALS: Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) Foundation.

ARRANGEMENTS: Hansen-Spear Funeral Directors.
