Catherine Louise Gerding, age 71, of Maywood, MO, previously of Shelbina, MO, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
Catherine was born on July 29, 1953, in Hannibal, MO, the daughter of Les and Ivy (Smith) Mann. She was united in marriage to William Joseph Gerding on October 2, 1976, at St. John's Catholic Church in Quincy, IL. He preceded her in death on October 27, 2022.
Catherine is survived by her two children, Richard Gerding (Kate) of Maywood, MO, and Amy Rickerson of Shelbina, MO; five grandchildren, Matthew, Andy, William "Bubba", Thomas, and Rusty; siblings, Pat Yancy (Bob), Phillip Mann (Judy), Richard Mann (Susan), and Mary Davidson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; twin granddaughters, Sydney and Haley Williams; brother, Bob Walker; and brother-in-law, Tom Davidson.
Catherine was a Catholic by faith. She was very artistic and created ceramic figures and oil paintings. Catherine enjoyed her collection of carousel horses and figurines. She loved helping out with 4-H club, gardening and attending to her flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday, November 1, 2024, at 7 pm at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, Missouri. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Donor's Choice.
