Michael W. "Mike" Clem

Michael W. "Mike" Clem, 68, of Bowen, passed away at 8:25 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, at Great River Hospice House in Burlington, Iowa, after a short, courageous battle with leukemia.

Mike was born Nov. 3, 1947, a son of W. William and Marie Monroe Clem in Keokuk, Iowa. He graduated from Erie High School in Erie, Colo. On Nov. 4, 1967, he was united in marriage to Barbara Crossland at the Bowen United Methodist Church. Michael was a member of the South Side Boat Club, Quincy Gun Club, Yarmouth Gun Club and OOIDA.

Mike is survived by his wife, Barbara Clem, of Bowen; four children, Eric (Rachel) Clem of Maysville, Iowa, Dr. Nathan (Courtney) Clem of Seattle, Wash., Dr. Amy (Daniel Beetner) Clem of Burlington and Michelle (Songkane) Keokham of Springfield; his mother, Marie Clem of Bowen; four siblings, Les (Patty) Clem of Henderson, Colo., Ramona (Kirk) Hollenbeck of Longmont, Colo., Kathy Phillips of Longmont and Kelly Clem of Bowen; and one granddaughter, Grace Clem, and two more grandchildren expected later this year.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Printy Funeral Home, Carthage, with burial to follow in Bowen Cemetery.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: A memorial fund has been established.
