HAMILTON, Ill. -- Ora Trautvetter, 97, of Hamilton, died at 5:25 a.m. Friday (Oct. 26, 2012) in the Methodist Le Bonheur Hospital in Germantown, Tenn.
She was born on July 21, 1915, in Wythe Township, a daughter of Charles Jacob and Elizabeth Johanna Schmitt Koehler. She married Earl H. Trautvetter on Aug. 8, 1938, in Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Sutter. He died Dec. 6, 1992.
Ora attended Orange School, Wythe Township, and graduated from Warsaw High School. She graduated from Western Illinois University Teacher's College and taught school in the Sutter area before marrying.
Ora was a lifelong member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ, where she had been active in Women's Fellowship and the quilting group and had taught Sunday school. She also played piano for special occasions at the church. She was skilled in needlework, especially quilting and crocheting. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and gardening. She had taught piano for many years.
Survivors include two children, Leslie (Darla) Trautvetter of Byron and Janet (Don) McCrory of Germantown, and grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, Shane (Sherry) Trautvetter of DeKalb, and their children and grandson, Keera, Chase, Seth, Shay, Prescott, and Jeremy and his son, Zane; Todd (Shauna) Trautvetter of Chatham, and their children, Cade, Quinn and Riley; Jeff (Jennifer) Jossendal of DeKalb and their children and grandchild, Ashley (Ben) and their son, Isaiah, Nicholas (Natalie) and Courtney; Sheri (Shawn) Byers of Davis Junction, IL and their children and grandchild, Amanda (James) and their son, Avery, Logan and Erika; Brock (Cori) Trautvetter of Chicago, IL and their son, Landon; Cory Trautvetter of DeKalb, and his son, Ty; Gabrielle (Jeff) Adams of Marion, Ark., and their daughters, Lauren and Megan; Mercedes (Kevin) Hawkins of Germantown; and Mathew (Wendy) McCrory of Germantown, and their daughter, Sophia.
Ora was preceded in death by her parents and her husband and four siblings, Clarence Koehler, Clara Wollbrink, Marie Davis and Carl Koehler.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Sutter, with Pastor Roy Paterik conducting. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
VISITATION: 3 to 7 p.m. today with family meeting friends between 5 and 7 tonight in the Lamporte-St.Clair Funeral Home in Hamilton.
