Sandra K. "Sandy" Brinkman, age 65, of Quincy, died on Thursday, March
18, 2021 at 4:13 a.m. in her home surrounded by her family after a
courageous battle with cancer.
Sandy was born on January 15, 1956 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of
Russell B. and Rita M. Rossmiller Terstriep. She married Randal J.
Brinkman on September 6, 1975 in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
He preceded her in death on July 7, 2019.
Sandy was a 1974 graduate of Payson Seymour High School. She was
employed at Blue Cross and Blue Shield for over 20 years as a customer
service associate. She was a long time member of St. Anthony of Padua
Catholic Church.
Sandy loved spending time with her family and attending her
grandchildren's sporting events to cheer them on. She enjoyed many
shopping trips with her Rossmiller cousins.
Sandy enjoyed crocheting, camping and planting flowers in the spring and
summer. She was a great cook and was especially known for her noodles.
Sandy is survived by her three children, Kimberly Sparks of Payson, IL,
Craig (Nikki) Brinkman of Maywood, MO, and Amy Brinkman of Chatham, IL;
her mother, Rita Terstriep of rural Payson, IL; five grandchildren,
Logan, Devin, and Nolan Sparks, all of Payson, Emma Brinkman of Maywood,
MO, and Milania Jones of Chatham, IL; a brother, Steve (Julie)
Terstriep, of Industry, IL; a sister, Janice (Kevin) Schuckman, of
Quincy; sister-in-law Lori Terstriep, of Payson, IL; father and
mother-in-law, Leroy and Virginia Brinkman, of Payson, IL; numerous
brothers and sisters-in-law on the Brinkman side of the family; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Sandy was preceded in death by her father,
Russell Terstriep, a brother Edward Terstriep, and several aunts and uncles.
Sandy's family would like to extend special thanks to the Quincy Medical
Group Cancer Team, especially Dr. Ali, who Sandy thought very highly of,
to the nurses and staff of Blessing Hospice, and all the family and
friends who helped and supported Sandy throughout her journey.
Services: 9:15 am prayer service on Monday, March 22, 2021 at
Hansen-Spear Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian
Burial at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with Father Tom Donovan
officiating.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois
Visitation: 2:00 to 5:00 pm on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at St. Anthony of
Padua Catholic Church.
Memorials: Blessing Foundation for Hospice or the Quincy Medical Group
