Vincent K. Quinn

1930 - 2017

Vincent K. Kirk Quinn of Natick, Massachusetts passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017, at the age of 87. He was the beloved husband of the late Susan B. (Barnes) Quinn. They had shared 32 years of life together. He was predeceased by his sisters, Sr. Constance Connie Quinn, r.c. and Geraldine M. (Quinn) Condon, his great-granddaughter Moira Kathleen Fowkes, and a step-son, Aaron T. Ben Maor. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Gerard Kevin & Louise Quinn of Stow, MA; his children, Stephen Quinn, John Quinn, Theresa Quinn, Kirk & Lori (Wirtanen) Quinn, Mike & Christine (Quinn) Landry and Roger & Katherine (Quinn) Fowkes; his step-children, David & Leslie Ben Maor, Anthony & Deborah (Ben Maor) Allen, Thomas & Rachel (Ben Maor) Lamont, 17 grandchildren & step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and loving nieces and nephews. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on January 28, 1930, he was the son of Leo F. and Helen (Kirk) Quinn. After graduating from Concord-Carlisle High School in 1948, he received his Associates Degree from Ricker Jr. College in Houlton, ME. He entered the United States Army in 1952 where he proudly served in the Korean War. Upon returning home from active duty, he married Jean Elizabeth Leamy on January 22, 1955 in Gardner, MA. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, he was recruited by New Jersey Bell for an executive training program and settled in Hillside, NJ, where he became the president of the local Lions Club and the Model A Club. In the Fall of 1966, he moved on to a position with New England Telephone in Massachusetts. He retired from the telephone company after 30 years of service. In 1982, he married Susan B. Barnes and settled in Natick, MA where he became a parishioner of Saint Patricks Church. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and even served as Grand Knight for a time. He was an award-winning fundraiser for the United Way and enjoyed campaigning for national and local politicians. He is lovingly remembered by his family as a gregarious, fun-loving, and entertaining story teller. He was passionate about automobiles and motor boats, and his favorite pastime was tinkering with and repairing antique cars, boats, and anything mechanical. He loved camping, boating and spending time with his wife Sue and their family on Lake Winnipesaukee, Squam Lake and Lake Monomonac in NH. He was an avid reader, loved gardening, played the harmonica, and on summer weekends, he and Sue could be found camping, driving 30 miles for a Maine lobster, or taking in a play at the local theater. He was a kind and generous person who loved life and enjoyed helping others. He will be greatly missed. There will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Patricks Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, MA, on Tuesday, November 21, 2007 at 10:00 AM. Interment services will follow at Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Pond Street, Natick.
