Francis A. Weitz Sr.

Francis Arthur Frank Weitz Sr., age 95, of Hingham died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rita Barbara (Mastrangelo) Weitz. Frank and Rita had just celebrated their 72nd anniversary Feb. 20, 2014. He is also survived by a son, Charles A. Weitz of Hingham; and a daughter, Cynthia Weitz Wisneski of Norwell. He was predeceased by a son, Christopher W. Weitz, and most recently another son, Francis A. Weitz Jr. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. He is survived by a brother, Walter Weitz; and two sisters, Jane Walker and Estelle Cleary. He was brother of the late Mary Sweeney and John Weitz. Frank was born in Boston. He was the son of the late Frank A. Weitz and Catherine (Fay) Weitz. He was one of six children. He was an Army veteran of World War II. After the war, he worked for Lever Brothers. He then worked in the building-material business for many years, until his retirement in 1983. An avid golfer, he was a longtime member of the Wollaston Golf Club in Milton. For many years, Frank and Rita lived in Boynton Beach, Fla., from Fall until Springtime. They were longtime members of the Quail Ridge Golf Club, where they resided. Visiting hours were in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte. 53, in Hanover, Sunday, March 2, 2014, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral home service was Monday at 11 a.m. Burial at High Street Cemetery in Hingham at a late date.
