Robert E. Callahan

1935 - 2017

Robert E. Callahan of Plymouth, died peacefully at home on January 15, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was the beloved husband of Ann Marie (Zucchelli) Callahan, united in love for fifty-six years; and the loving father of Michael R. Callahan of Plymouth, Jeffrey C. Callahan of Virginia, Kathleen M. Pierce of Arizona, and Lisa M. Callahan of Needham. Bob leaves a brother, Edward Callahan of Stoughton; a sister, Nancy Lewis of Lakeville; and he was predeceased by brothers, Charles Callahan of New Jersey and William Callahan of Canton. Always the bearer of joy and laughter, he was adored by his grandchildren, Michael, Alison, Jeremy, Joshua, Marah, Steven, and Hunter. Born in Norwood, July 5, 1935, Robert was the son of the late Charles and Marguerite (Casey) Callahan. Upon graduating from Canton High School, Bob served with the United States Army during the Korean conflict. As a member of the National Guard, Bob worked on the Nike Missile Site in Hull as a Staff Sargeant, supervising the sites radar technicians. When the missile site closed, he transferred to Army Aviation as a Sergeant First Class Helicopter Maintenance Inspector. After retiring from the military, Bob worked part time at Charlie's Hardware in North Plymouth, was an eleven year volunteer at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth, and enjoyed his membership in both the Cabot and Seaside Clubs. Bob was passionate about his New England Patriots, and as an avid golfer, could be found teeing up on any one of the local links. A friend to all, Bob will be sorely missed by his many circles of friends who loved him and will miss his ever-present gift of laughter. Visiting hours will be Friday, January 20, 4-7 p.m., at the Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Road, Manomet. A funeral Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday morning, 11 a.m., at St. Marys Church, 313 Court Street, North Plymouth. Burial will follow in St. Josephs Cemetery, Plymouth.
