William Sterling Obituary

William "Ray" Sterling, 88, of Winchester, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, October 21, 2023. He was born August 19, 1935, in Ridgeville, Indiana, to Albert Lee Sterling, Sr. and Rosemary (Magee) Sterling. Ray graduated from Winchester High School in 1953. While a senior in school he was employed at Overmyer Mould Company until his retirement.
Ray enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, fishing and cheering for AJ Foyt when he watched racing.
Ray is survived by his wife of 67 years, Maxine (Garrett); two children, Mary Ann (Tim) Passmore of Winchester and Steve Sterling of Winchester; two grandchildren, Ben (Miranda) Passmore of Winchester and Lexi (Jake) Woods of Knoxville, Tennessee; four great grandchildren, Delaney, Mosley, and Emmalyn Passmore of Winchester, and Archie Woods of Knoxville, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Albert; and sister-in law, Betty; and two nephews.
There will be a private family graveside service for Ray, at the convenience of his family.
