Clarence Brogdon Obituary

BROGDON MOCKSVILLE - Mr. Clarence Henry Brogdon, 88, of NC Hwy 801 South, Mocksville, died Friday, June 15, 2007, at Davie County Hospital. He was born August 15, 1918, in Davie County to the late Laura Wagoner and John Henry Brogdon. Mr. Brogdon continued to live in Davie County until he was 18 years old. He moved to Washington, D.C. and worked with Ritz Camera Company until he was 21 years of age. Uncle Sam asked him to join him and he was in special infantry unit (photographer and mapographer) until he was released at 28 years of age. He returned to Davie County and married Lula Marie Sechrest, and raised two girls, Patricia Ann Glover and Amelia Yvonne Fink. Mr. Brogdon retired from Burlington Industries after 35 years of service. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lula Marie Brogdon; half-sister, Thelma Carter; nephew, J. W. Carter; and step-son, Steven Gray James. Mr. Brogdon is survived by his second wife, Dorcas Alexander James Brogdon of the home; two daughters, Yvonne (Ron) Fink of Mooresville and Patricia (Jack) Glover of Moyock; three grandchildren, Lindsay (Eric) Scott of Ft. Bragg, Tamara Cummings of Mooresville and Jason (Amber) Glover of Elizabeth City; four great-grandchildren, Nathan Scott, Sidney Cummings, Jonathan and Austin Glover; three step-daughters, Janice (Larry) McDaniel, Ann Dyson and Gay (Billy) Sharpe, all of Mocksville; a stepson, Mike (Robbin) James of Mocksville; six step-grandchildren; and ten stepgreat-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, June 18, at Eaton Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Joe Smith and the Rev. Arnold Gosnell officiating. Interment will follow in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., today, at Eaton Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Turrentine Baptist Church, 613 Turrentine Church Road, Mocksville, NC 27028; or Concord United, 161 Cherry Hill Road, Mocksville, NC 27028. Special thanks to the nursing staff at Davie County Hospital, Dr. Joel Edwards and Mr. Bill Ijames.

Vonnie and Patty I am very sorry about your Father's passing. Vonnie I just found out today,the 18th of June .I would have loved to have been there for you. You were so nice when my Father passed away. Words cannot express my feelings now. Your father was a real sweet man and a good man. He will be missed. Love ya.
