Stephen Fred Motsinger

1950 - 2024

Stephen Fred Motsinger, born May 14, 1950, youngest child of the late Fred Noah Motsinger and Evelyn Mock Motsinger of Winston-Salem, NC passed in his Winston-Salem home in Historic Ardmore on Monday, February 26. An artist, poet, musician, veteran, mischief-maker, birthday party roller skater, turkey tosser, brother, father, and husband, Steve is survived by his wife, Judy Simmons Motsinger of 50 and 3/4 years, two dogs Tula and Tilley, daughters Stacey (Jeffrey) Clous and Marley (Jabe) O'Neill, his five granddaughters Bela Musco, Lillie O'Neill, Esme O'Neill, Eden Carpenter, and Rory O'Neill. He is also survived by his sister Rachael (John, deceased) Garrity of Winston-Salem, cousin Patsy (Eddie, deceased) Faires of Kernersville, sister-in-law Patsey (Ken) Bateman of Clemmons, sister-in-law Linda (brother-in-law Wade, deceased) Simmons of Mt Airy, nephews Jon (Celeste) Lowder, Russ (Kelly) Lowder, Alton Simmons, Andy Simmons, cousin Kim Rogers (Todd), and his two goddaughters Casey (Travis) Williams and Lauren (Peter) Tomasiello. He is preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law Hayes and Lillie Simmons of Mt Airy and brother-in-law Ray Sutphin of Charlotte. Steve was both brilliant in mind and generous with love and will long be remembered by those whose lives he touched.
