William A. Weigel, age 78, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Monday evening, July 25, 2016 at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer.

Bill was born July 8, 1938 in Wisconsin Rapids to Henry and Wilma (Miller) Weigel Sr. He was united in marriage to Barbara Weir on May 31, 1983 in Wisconsin Rapids.

Bill was a self-employed auto mechanic and an all-around Mr. Fix It. He was an avid gun collector, a jack of all trades and a problem solver for many. He was an avid outdoorsman who had a love of old time country music and the great outdoors. Bill enjoyed spending countless hours on his lawnmower and riding around on his pink moped. His greatest joy was being "Grandpa Grump" to his grandchildren and all of the children at his son's daycare.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Barbara; four children: Shelby (Chuck) Wellnitz, of Wisconsin Rapids, Rene (Rose) Weigel of Appleton, Troy (Jessica) Weigel and Ann (Keith) Borski both of Wisconsin Rapids; six grandchildren: Thomas (Robyn) Weigel and Thorton, Zoe, Otto, Matthew and Samantha Weigel; brothers and sisters: Marjorie Morrison, Ellen Lehner, Arleigh LaBarge, Ronnie (Si) Weigel, Mike (Trisha) Weigel, John (Sue) Weigel and Dan Weigel all of Wisconsin Rapids and Trixie Russell of Texas; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Sue Hagen, Bev (John) Ungaro, John (Patty) Weir, Jim Weir, Dan (Sue) Weir, Dean Weir and Donald (Marie) Weir; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruthmary (Jerry) Korslin; brother, Henry (Mary) Weigel Jr.; and brothers-in-law: Ron Russell, Bill LaBarge and Giles Rawling.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. on Friday and from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday.
