Roland Theroux

WOONSOCKET – Roland Theroux, 82, of Woonsocket, passed away on March 21, 2018, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Helene (Robidoux) Theroux, whom he married Sept. 7, 1957. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Romeo and Blanche (Gaudette) Theroux.

Besides his wife Helene, Roland was the devoted father of five children; Joseph Theroux of Woonsocket, Jon Theroux and his wife Mary Anne of Blackstone, Dr. James Theroux and his wife Donna of Blackstone, Dr. Janis Laporte and her husband Michael of Blackstone, and Jill Rihani and her husband Munir of North Smithfield. He was also the cherished grandfather of six grandchildren, Jessica Renaud, Jordan and Julia Laporte, Brenden Theroux, and Munir Jr. and Ava Rihani; as well as one great-grandson, Jameson Renaud. He was the brother of the late Leo and Joseph Theroux, and Jeanette Greeno.

He worked as a firefighter for the Woonsocket Fire Department, retiring as deputy chief after 32 years of service.

Roland was a dedicated, volunteer for 14 years with Meals on Wheels and a longtime volunteer at Precious Blood Church. He was an avid golfer, with his most enjoyable rounds played with his three sons. He also enjoyed his bowling and card playing leagues with many of his friends. Roland was an ardent sports fan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at 11 a.m. in Precious Blood Church, 94 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham. Calling hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City OK 73123. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket.
