Edward Sinton Obituary
York - Edward Harry Sinton died on January 26, 2019 at the age of 92. He was the husband of Doris (Klawitter) Sinton, who died February 20, 2017. They were married June 16, 1951.
Ed was born in Orange, NJ on August 7, 1926 to the late Edward C. and Dorothy L. (McWilliams) Sinton. He moved to Mount Carmel in 1927 and graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1944. He was in the high school band for 6 years. Upon graduating he volunteered and signed for immediate induction in the US Army. He served in the 79th infantry division. He was a life member of the VFW Post 8951 and a member of the American Legion Post 791. After the ending of WWII, he served in the occupation and attended the Nuremberg War Crime Trials.
Ed graduated from Lycoming College and worked as J.C. Penney Co., Grinnel Corp, and York International where he retired after 35 years.
Over the years, Doris and Ed enjoyed camping, square dancing, cruising, and visiting all 50 US states and many western European countries. Ed was a member of Faith UCC church, where he served on numerous committees and offices.
Ed is survived by a son, Bradley R. Sinton of York; daughter-in-law, Melody Lynne Sinton; three grandchildren, Mindy D. Gasparin and husband, Benjamin, Matthew D. Sinton and wife, Samantha, and Megan D. Groft and husband, Douglas; four great grandchildren, Avery Carter, Quinn, and Willa, plus nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death, besides his parents and wife, by a son, David E. Sinton and a brother-in-law, Clair R. Klawatter.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Faith UCC, 509 Pacific Ave. York, PA 17404, with Pastor Ron Oelrich officiating. A visitation will be from 11 am to 12 pm, prior to the service. Burial will be at 1:30 pm at Prospect Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Faith UCC, 509 Pacific Ave. York, PA 17404. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory Inc. is in charge of arranges.
